The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Coming
Next Year to Universal’s Islands of Adventure
Get ready for a “wizard” of an Orlando vacation.
Visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, scheduled to open Spring 2010 at Universal’s Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida.
In addition to Harry Potter and other popular characters, the new 20-acre area will also feature locations from the famed series by J.K. Rowling, including:
- Hogwarts Castle – home to the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride, a fully immersive journey through the world of Harry Potter.
- Hogsmeade – with such shops as Zonko’s and Honeydukes, the train station and more!
- Ollivanders Wand Shop – where guests can purchase wands that “choose” them.
Additional attractions include:
- Dragon Challenge – a dual roller coaster that zooms guests through selected scenes from the Triwizard Tournament.
- Flight of the Hippogriff – a family-friendly coaster that flies above Hogwarts castle
- The Owl Post – where guests can send out letters with a Hogsmeade postmark!
Other shops include: The Owlery, Dervish and Bages, Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods and more – all with official Harry Potter food, candy and “magical” merchandise available exclusively at Islands of Adventure!
There’s also the Three Broomsticks restaurant plus Hog’s Head pub, where they’ll be serving nonalcoholic Butterbeer!

Coming Soon to Universal Studios Orlando
Get ready for the thrill ride of a lifetime on your Orlando vacation – Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit – coming soon to Universal Studios Orlando.
The new coaster, a turbo-charged, eardrum-thumping, high-speed Hollywood action experience, takes you on a nearly 3/4 mile journey above, around, through and even under the park – complete with your own personalized soundtrack!
Once inside the coaster car, you’ll select your own personalized song from lists divided into five music categories: pop/disco, classic rock/metal, rap/hip hop, country and club/electronica.
Next, strap in for the ride of your life as you slowly climb – straight up – 167 feet above the park. As you reach the peak, you’re staring 17 stories down and then suddenly plunge 65 mph into the first of three one-of-a-kind, breathtaking maneuvers: The Double Take – where you twist from the inside to the outside of a non-inverted loop!
Then, you’ll race into the next hair-raising move: The Treble Clef – which spins and winds you around in the shape of the musical symbol!
Third, comes The Jump Cut – a spiraling, negative-G corkscrew where you’re never upside down!
