Run and Register for Walt Disney World® Marathon Weekend Events!

Registration opened Tuesday for 2014 Walt Disney World® Marathon Weekend, January 8-12. One of the most “magical” collections of races on the planet, register now and challenge yourself to a 26.2-mile Marathon run through all four Walt Disney World® Resort Theme Parks, the 13.1-mile Walt Disney World® Half Marathon, the 6.2-mile Walt Disney World® 10K or the 3.1-mile Disney Family Fun Run 5K. If you’re an avid runner, sign up for Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge and complete both the Half Marathon and the Marathon – and debuting this year, experience the ultimate endurance test, register for the Dopey Challenge and run the 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and Marathon! Kids can be a part of the excitement too with special runDisney Kids Races designed for children of all ages – even toddlers!

Join New Friends at the Disney Junior – Live on Stage! Show

Starting February 15, your preschooler’s favorite Disney Junior pals are back – along with some new faces at Disney’s Hollywood Studios® Theme Park. At the Disney Junior – Live on Stage! show, join characters from “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,” “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” and now “Doc McStuffins” and “Sofia the First” for new stories and adventures. It’s Minnie’s birthday and Mickey, Donald, Daisy and Goofy need help from their Disney Junior friends – and YOU – to plan a surprise! A Disney Junior hostess leads the excitement and introduces each skit as you and your family clap, dance and sing along with the fun. This show is packed full of enchanting puppets, colorful scenery and catchy songs.

Add Jolly Laughs to the Holidays with the Return of Comedy Warehouse

By popular demand, “The Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special” is returning to Disney’s Hollywood Studios® Theme Park, December 23-January 5, to once again bring festive laughs and cheer to your family. Last year, the limited-run holiday special made its debut staring comedians from the former Comedy Warehouse club that once occupied Downtown Disney® Pleasure Island. Due to the event’s success, the comedians are returning again to delight you with family-friendly humor and improvisation for an extended 14-day run and new a location in the Premier Theater.   

Shout out suggestions as Comedy Warehouse performers take ideas from you, the audience, and create skits to entertain both adults and children. A sleigh full of your favorite holiday songs, stories, poems and movie scenes will be reinvented with a comedic twist. Laugh along with the silly scenarios and enjoy an opportunity or two to join the fun. Even the most “Scrooge-like” members of your family will leave with smiles on their faces. 

The Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special,” December 23-January 5, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios® Theme Park is included with park admission. As the dates get closer, check a park map or ask a cast member for more information and show times. Tip: Arrive early to secure your seat. Last year, many shows were quickly filled to capacity.

Set Sail for the Swashbuckling World of Pirates this December

Grab your treasure map, hoist the main sail and cast off for an adventure on the high sea. December 6, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios® Theme Park, embark on a voyage into the world of pirates and see if you have what it takes to become a scurvy buccaneer at Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow. At this brand new walk-through attraction, you’ll be greeted by a mysterious pirate skull that puts you and your family to the test to see if you can be a part of the legendary Captain Jack Sparrow’s crew. Face the perils of a pirate’s life, walk in the steps of Captain Jack Sparrow and experience some of your favorite moments from the four “Pirates of the Caribbean” films.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow is included with admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios® Theme Park. Tip: The attraction officially opens on December 6, however, “dress rehearsals” are set to begin later this month. If you are planning to visit before the attraction opens, you might be treated to a sneak peek. Check with a cast member for more information.

Something eerie is descending upon the ESPN Wide World of Sports® Complex at Walt Disney World® Resort this fall. Grab your family and your favorite pair of running shoes for the Disney Happy Haunted 5K Trail Run, Saturday, September 29. Part of the inaugural The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ 10-Miler Weekend, can you navigate the spooky terrains of the trail and “survive” the obstacles to cross the finish line?

Come dressed in your Halloween costume for thrills and chills, perfect for adults, teens and tweens, that lurk at your every turn. Run across pavement, grass and sand through the ESPN Wide World of Sports® Complex while enjoying Disney entertainment on-course including appearances by some Disney villains. Brave the hair-raising surprises along the way to receive the ultimate reward – an unforgettable race across the finish line. Runners who want to celebrate their achievements can join the Disney Villains Hollywood Bash later in the day and party in the shadow of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™. Enjoy select rides at Disney’s Hollywood Studios® Theme Park, rockin’ DJs and character meet & greets.

The Disney Happy Haunted 5K Trail Run takes place on Saturday, September 29 at 7:30 a.m. Register now before the opportunity disappears as registration is currently 60 percent full. Stormtroopers, Jedi Knights, Sith warriors, droids and fighters for the Rebellion and the Empire are invading Disney’s Hollywood Studios®. The 2012 UCA/UDA International All Star Championship Brings Dancing and Cheerleading to Walt Disney World® Resort

Are you looking for a fun activity the whole family can enjoy during your Orlando vacation with ALL STAR Vacation Homes? Rock in the New Year at Universal CityWalk® and Other Theme Park New Year’s Eve Celebrations

With hit music from Smash Mouth and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, say goodbye to 2011 and ring in 2012 at Rock in the New Year at Universal CityWalk®. At Rock in the New Year, adults ages 21 and up enjoy a huge New Year’s party throughout CityWalk® featuring live music, all-you-can-eat food and a champagne toast at midnight.

Comedy Warehouse Returns for Limited Engagement Holiday Special at Disney’s Hollywood Studios®

Just in time for the Holidays, Disney’s Hollywood Studios® theme park is bringing back the Comedy Warehouse, but only for a limited time. From December 25 through December 31, entertainers in the “The Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special” will put on a hilarious improvisational stage show sure to make your entire family jolly with laughter.

“The Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special” features improv performers formally from the Comedy Warehouse on Pleasure Island that closed in 2008. The performers will create skits and ask for suggestions from the audience and show off their skills by reinventing holiday classics including songs, stories, poems and movie scenarios.

“The Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special,” December 25-December 31, takes place at the ABC Sound Studio at Disney’s Holiday Studios® and is included with park admission. Showtimes (subject to change) are 11:30 am, 12:30 pm, 1:30 pm, 3:45 pm, 4:45 pm and 5:45 pm daily.

The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights

Running through the holiday season is the returning splendor of The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. Exhibited at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Theme Park for more than fifteen years, Dancing Lights features millions of lights that dance in choreographed whimsy to holiday music and include angels, carousels and even Santa and his reindeer.

What began as a Christmas present for his daughter, Jennings Osborne’s elaborate light display grew bigger and bigger with every passing year, until he decided to share it at Hollywood Studios.

Visit Hollywood Studios on your Orlando vacation and take in the breathtaking sight of the Dancing Lights, a spectacle you’ll have to see to believe!

Celebrate Star Wars Weekends on Your Orlando Vacation

Celebrate Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World on your Orlando vacation.

This “stellar” event features celebrity autographs, meet and greets, trivia contests, motorcade parades, special limited-edition merchandise – plus many roaming Star Wars characters – and more!

Highlights include:

  • The Jedi Training Academy – train to become a Jedi and face Darth Vader himself!
  • The Padawan Mind Challenge – Star Wars trivia just for kids!
  • Hyperspace Hoopla! – a “grande finale show” to cap off each evening

This year’s celebrity hosts are Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett – Episodes V-VI) and Ashley Eckstein (Voice of Ahsoka “Snips” in Star Wars: The Clone Wars cartoon).

Star Wars Weekends runs every Friday, Saturday and Sunday May 21st through June 13th at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
