Celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Apollo 11 this Thursday at the Kennedy Space Center
Take your Orlando vacation out of this world – celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing mission this Thursday, July 16th at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, FL.
You’ll see one of the first men to set foot on the moon, Buzz Aldrin, as he recounts the exciting voyage.
Also on hand will be astronauts from other Apollo missions, sharing their stories of space exploration.
The celebration will take place at the Apollo/Saturn V Center and features the grand opening of a brand new exhibit displaying rare items from various Apollo missions – including spacesuits, excavation tools and even the Apollo 14 command module!
The event marks the date of the Apollo 11 launch, July 16, 1969, which sent three astronauts – Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins – to the moon. Four days later, on July 20, 1969, the lunar module Eagle landed on the moon, making a “giant leap for mankind.”
